COVID-19 Emergency Response Statement
Dear Salem Family and Friends,
Per a directive from our Bishop, Thomas J. Bickerton, in light of the growing concern of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), all worship services and church activities have been suspended until further notice.
Our priority is the health and safety of our members, visitors, and staff.
Salem United Methodist Church will take the following steps to ensure all who connect with our church are protected and cared for:
Sunday worship will be suspended at our physical location until further notice. We will join in worship at 11:00am with the Greater Harlem Cooperative Parish Churches for worship via a call-in number at 712-770-5603* ACCESS CODE: 971565# (Click here for more info)
All church activities will be suspended until further notice. This includes church-wide and community events, choir rehearsals, and all children’s activities. Our Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen will continue to operate utilizing protocols outlined by our partner agencies which limit access to the building but allows us to serve.
Holy Week remains unaffected until further notice.
All physical and on-site meetings including Bible study and ministry meetings are suspended. Virtual meetings will be our standard practice for the foreseeable future and these resources will be provided to ministry leaders in collaboration with our Technology and Communications team.
It is imperative that we continue the financial support of our ministry endeavors as well as the support of our staff. We strongly encourage the utilization of our alternative giving methods via our website and the SecureGive Vision mobile app. Other physical contributions may be mailed to the church at Salem UMC 2190 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., NY, NY 10027. Please be reminded of our ask of each member to contribute minimally $380.00 per month.
Official Salem UMC updates will be communicated via email, social media, the website, and Calling Post. Please make sure that we have your correct contact information by contacting the church office if you are not receiving communication from the sources listed.
We have not been given the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Stay connected, prayerful, and faithful to God’s word!
Yours In God’s Service,
